This week's challenge over at the
Simon says stamp challenge blog is absolutely brilliant! The challenge is to make a card with a song of your choice in mind. I chose: every rose has its thorns by Poison. I had just seen a documentary about the band on MTV and this beautiful ballad got stuck in my head. As soon as I saw the challenge and started singing the song I thought of this image -
Love is gone from sweetpea stamps. It's very goth and rock'n'roll.
I started by choosing matching papers. I had a small rosey panel that I matched with a stripey one ffrom BG. I then coloured my image with coordinating promarkers. I wanted the circular part of the sketch to look like a rose so I cut out circles in different shades and sizes. Then I assembled them so they would look like a rose. To accentuate the detail I added a small piece of leaf-ribbon. It was white, but I coloured it with my promarkers to match. The final touch was some glitter and pearls in the corners.
I also had a bunch of other challenges in mind when making this card. "Music" was the theme at
promarker challenge and
pile it on also had "a little bit of country, a little bit of rock'n'roll".
I used a sketch from
sketch and stash challenge and "pearls" that was the theme over at
basic grey. The thing I used from BG is the stripey paper at the bottom. I don't remember what the line is called, but I know it's Basic Grey.
And finally, this month's theme at
stamp and create is: "flowers".
