Jumping for joy

I have made another Christmascard, this time for the sunday sketch and stamp challenge blog. Here's the sketch they had:

I've used a digistamp that I got from a blogfriend. It was enclosed in an english magazine last year I think. There is a whole sheet of adorable doggies and cats so I'm sure I'll be making more Christmascards with them. Don't you just love the pooch trying to escape his square, lol?
The image is coloured with promarkers: burnt sienna, apple, marsh green, berry red and carmine. I used white liquid appliqué on the furry part of the hat. I also used the dimensional liquid thingy on the pooche's nose, on some of the bulbs and on the text (I can't remember what the dimensional thingy is even called right now. Help anyone?). The text is from a piece of cardstock. I like buying papers with text on them because it gives you an easy and cheaper way to add sentiments.


I'm also putting up this card on our creative corner where the challenge is: "Christmas in august".

Christmouse for Christmas

It's been a while since I've joined the Penny Black saturday challenge or made a card using my PB's. I liked the sketch this week (AND the prize, lol). After my latest extremely bright card and the elegant/damask one (not sure what it's called in english) I felt like doing a Christmas card. I don't have many Christmaspapers although I have been buying some on recent sales. I'm really itching to buy some X-mas paperpacks later on and maybe sharing some in an upcoming candy (hint hint ;) Anyhow, I bought these papers last year and they are one of my fav colourcombos for Christmascards.

My take on it:

I have a box where I keep all of my Christmasstuff. It's a great idea since I only need to look through that box to find things for X-mas projects. I got some cutouts many years ago - before I had learned to use them. I wanted to find a snowflake since I don't have any in my qk collection (they were out when I shopped last). I found this one and I embossed it with my snowflakes CB folder.

I used a blue brilliance pad when inking the image. I tried to emboss the flake, but since brilliance don't emboss well I added some glitterglue instead.
At first I thought the card was a bit too busy with all that glitter and stones only on the upper part, but now I like it. The silver charm "peace" I bought at my local jewelrystore.

I've noticed that if you layer the patterned paper on some cardstock it looks more professional. It might sound simple, but it took me a while to figure it out, lol. I'm feeling so proud of myself making these cards. Blogging has REALLY helped me improve!

I'm also joining this week's challenge on the Dutchdare cardchallenges. The theme this week is "Christmas in august" which suits me perfectly since I missed all of the "Christmas in july" challenges.

A new challenge blog

I have found a new challenge blog called creatalicious challenges. They are a monthly blog and held on the 15:th. You can do whatever you like and combine it with as many other challenges as you'd like.

Count your rainbows...

This week I've been playing with the sugarbowl blog. I just love those Sugar Nellie stamps and this week you could've had a chance to win six stamps of your choice!!! I just had to join :)
The challenge was to use a sketch and doodle. I've doodled around the limegreen paper, around the image and I've actually also doodled the whitish horisontal patterned part.

I love these papers and had a lot of fun making this card.

Scrapbook paperbag album

Stephanie has made this amazing paperbag album and since she's so pleased with it she's giving it away as blogcandy!
It is truly amazing, you have to go check it out for yourself. Stephanie has made a little video where she shows all the details. It is one of my dreams to be able to make things like this. I just adore the whole vintage look!

Cheer up - my first DT card

Today I manages to finish my first DT card for Sweet pea stamps. I love the cute look on this girl's face and just had to make something bright and cheerful. I bought the patterned paper the other week and was itching to use it. I'm very pleased with it since I'm trying to develop my "busy cards" style. I think there is so much going on on this card, but I kind of like it.



I made this card after a sketch at sketch saturday. The little brads and ribbons in the right upper corner were perfect for the sketch.

There is also a great challenge at a spoon full of sugar. The theme this week has been "floral fantasy". Don't think it can get more floral than this, lol.

Last, but not least I used the challenge theme for the Simon says stamp
challege "buttons and bows".

Do you see something different with my photos? I followed a tutorial on Kristine's blog on how to make blurry edges on your photos. I think it looks nice, but it would probably look even better if my blog had a white background.

Items used: promarkers; lime green, saffron, petrol blue, orange, berry red and an old pantone yellow, although you could use canary. Paper from DCWV.

New item on etsy

Just wanted to let you know that I put up a very cute new item on etsy. It's a holder for needles or can be used for brooches. I know I need one for my needles - right now they are just laying around in different boxes or are stuck in a scrap of fabric.

I also noticed it could be used for a couple of brooches when travelling for instance. If you know someone who would be interested, please spread the word :)

It's august and I've decided to have a big celebration throughout the whole month. I have so much to celebrate and I want to do it with all of you! I will have weekly smaller candies and at the end I will have a bigger one.

Something about Simon

I don't think anyone in crafty blogland has missed Simon says stamp. If you have then where have you been?
I must admit I haven't been shopping at their store yet, but I hope to very soon :)
I have been going through their selection and they have so many different things - maybe too much, lol. The shop is quite easy to navigate. The only thing I'm not superhappy about is that you can't get a bigger picture when you click on the items. I miss that, but other than that it's super. Each item even has a detailed discription, measurements etc. so you know what you get, how many of each and so on. If you scroll down when you look at a paperstack you get to see ALL of the patterns included in the stack. I LOVE it! No ugly surprises when you get the things home.

When proceeding to checkout you can do that as a guest - no need to sign up and register first. I hate when it takes forever just to register and then you forget the password until next time anyway. Here you have a choice. If you shop often then register, if not, shop as a guest. Brilliant.

One of the biggest reservations I have when shopping on the internet are the shippingrates, but even here the SSS are great. Outside the US (and under $100 in items) you only pay the flatrate envelope of $12. The domestic rates are even better and there is even free shipping for both US and international customers when ordering over a certain amount. That's the kind of shipping I like.
