Happy Halloween, doll...

Are you tired of Halloween yet? I'm starting to be as I only have two Halloween patterned papers to play with, lol. I really want to get basic grey's eerie collection, but haven't found any good place to get them yet. To be honest I've been a bit of a cheapskate. Since we don't celebrate Halloween here I've been spending my moolah on other supplies, but after having so much fun with these cards I think I'll invest in some spooky ones. I think this is the most Halloween cards I've ever made during one year and it's been a blast.

For this card I used one of the older stamps from Kraftin' Kimmie's called Drucilla. I really love these stamps and I would like to have all of them! Actually, I was fortunate enough to win some during Kraftin' Kimmies bloghop. Can't wait to see which ones I get.

I didn't have any of the Halloween themed ones, but that never stopped me. I like to use what I have and thought this Voodoo one would fit perfectly. It is coloured with promarkers and the edges are inked with distress ink. I cut out two hearts in green and orange with my nesties which I then embossed with a cuttlebug embossing folder. I used front on the orange heart and back on the green of the folder to add interest. This makes the skulls raised on one and pushed down on the other. It's a minor detail, but I think it makes a difference on the overall impression.

I also stamped the heartstamp - that comes with Drucilla - three times and colored in green, orange and purple. The texttag is a nestieshape and I wrote the text by hand. I wanted to write something funny and came up with this "doll" sentiment.

As always I had a couple of challenges in mind while working on it:

7 kids college fund - sketch+Halloween+use 2 stamps
Cupcake craft - scary creatures
Everybody art - Halloween
Kraftin' Kimmies - spooky card
Papertake weekly - 3 of something
Promarker challenge - green, orange, purple and black

Boo-tiful scenery

I've had a blast working on today's card. I have used the very sweet trick or treat stamp from sweetpea stamps, designed by Elaine Cox. The little owl is also a part of the stamp.

I started out with the house that I had laying around, cut out in Halloween paper using a qk die. As we don't celebrate Halloween in Sweden like the US I don't have many H papers. This is actually a scrap from a paper I bought years ago and keep using every year - I still haven't run out. It's a perfect way to use those smaller pieces not to mention a cheap way to make a card. As you can see it mainly consists of cardstock which is the most basic thing you can get. Both cheap and always available.

For the four background panels I have used four different cuttlebug embossing folders. The "boo" sentiment is from the same embossingfolder as the green panel. I embossed it and cut out with a circle nestie that had the perfect size. I cut out an orange circle in bling cardstock using a circle nestie. The black tree is from the same set as the house and the black bat is a single qk die. The little witch and owl is coloured with promarkers.

I used a couple of challenges while working on this card:

All sorts - songtitle ( I chose "this is Halloween" from a nightmare before Christmas)
By the cute and girly - spooky
Friday sketchers - sketch
Simon says stamp - Halloween

Here are the lyrics to the song I was inspired by from the movie  Nightmare berofe Christmas:

Boys and girls of every age
Wouldn't you like to see something strange?

Come with us and you will see
This, our town of Halloween

This is Halloween, this is Halloween
Pumpkins scream in the dead of night

This is Halloween, everybody make a scene
Trick or treat till the neighbors gonna die of fright
It's our town, everybody screm
In this town of Halloween

I am the one hiding under your bed
Teeth ground sharp and eyes glowing red

I am the one hiding under yours stairs
Fingers like snakes and spiders in my hair

This is Halloween, this is Halloween

Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Halloween!
In this town we call home
Everyone hail to the pumpkin song

In this town, don't we love it now?
Everybody's waiting for the next surprise

Round that corner, man hiding in the trash cam
Something's waiting no to pounce, and how you'll...

Scream! This is Halloween
Red 'n' black, slimy green

Aren't you scared?

Well, that's just fine
Say it once, say it twice
Take a chance and roll the dice
Ride with the moon in the dead of night

Everybody scream, everbody scream

In our town of Halloween!

I am the clown with the tear-away face
Here in a flash and gone without a trace

I am the "who" when you call, "Who's there?"
I am the wind blowing through your hair

I am the shadow on the moon at night
Filling your dreams to the brim with fright
This is Halloween, this is Halloween
Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Halloween!
Halloween! Halloween!

Tender lumplings everywhere
Life's no fun without a good scare

That's our job, but we're not mean
In our town of Halloween

In this town

Don't we love it now?

Skeleton Jack might catch you in the back
And scream like a banshee
Make you jump out of your skin
This is Halloween, everyone scream
Wont' ya please make way for a very special guy

Our man jack is King of the Pumpkin patch
Everyone hail to the Pumpkin King

This is Halloween, this is Halloween
Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Halloween!

In this town we call home
Everyone hail to the pumpkin song

La la-la la, Halloween! Halloween! [Repeat]
