Love you forever

I've been sick again so it took me a while to make another card to show you. Good thing I had started on the Christmas cards early this year! You never know what's going to hit you :(
I was almost done with a card for a couple of challenges before I got sick, but now it's too late to enter. I will show it to you later though, don't worry.

This card I made for my sweetie for Christmas. I like giving him cards and he loves to get them. I used a sketch from lili of the valley and the theme "winter wishes" from the house mouse challenge blog.

The papers I used are same as for the previous card. I really like them. If you do too, make sure to come back after new year's as I will be offering them as candy together with a bunch of other things. I have a lot to celebrate and the latest thing is that I'm almost at 50 followers! And I didn't force anyone, lol.

I wanted to show you the latest loot that's been coming to my doorstep these last few days. Christmas really is early this year. The items below I won at Belles n whistles advent calendar.

The items here are stamps from Whiff of joy (finally got myself almost all the Charlotte and Charlie ones during their 20% off sale), lots of dies and alphabets from scrapyland and a box full of flowers, magnolias, papers and other things from Magdas.se.

I don't even know where to begin, lol.

Happy Lucia

Tomorrow morning we're celebrating Lucia here in Sweden, but it all really starts tonight when we sit up all night. Here's what the Swedish consulate says about this tradition:

The Swedish Lucia celebration is an annual festival of medieval origin, observed on the 13th of December. On this day, the darkness is brightened by Saint Lucia, a creature of goodness and light who opens the door to the Christmas season.

Named after a Sicilian saint, the Swedish Lucia does not have much in common with her namesake. She is celebrated in a variety of ways, but the most common is the Lucia procession consisting of a group of young girls and boys singing traditional Lucia songs.

On her head, the girl or woman playing the part of Lucia wears a wreath of lingonberry sprigs with holders for real candles (battery-powered ones are sometimes a safer option) to give the effect of a halo. She also has a white, full-length gown with a red ribbon around her waist. Her female attendants (tärnor) wear similar gowns and the "star boys" (stjärngossar) wear white pointed hats decorated with stars. Lucia processions are held in various places, ranging from kindergartens and schools to churches and the Swedish Parliament.

Lucia can be perceived as a symbol of the good forces in life and a symbol of light in the dark winter. She usually appears early in the morning, bringing coffee and saffron-flavored buns (lussekatter) traditionally eaten around Christmas time in Sweden.

Me and my fiancée have a tradition we've been doing for a couple of years. Our movie theatre arranges a Lucia movie night. They show three films that haven't been shown yet. Nobody knows what will be shown and that's kind of the thrill. It all starts at midnight and we watch the movies through the night. In between the films we get pizza and sandwiches to eat and in the morning we get "lussekatter". It all ends around 6-7 in the morning. We started doing this a couple of years ago and we've been doing it ever since. Every year we've been seeing how more and more people attend. This year we weren't even able to get any tickets - they sold out in a couple of hours - so we're doing our own version: we rented three movies instead. We took one we both wanted and one "secret" each. He doesn't know what I chose and I don't know what he chose. This way we get our own way of secret movies. We've bought lussekatter in a nearby bakery and will order pizza. With me being sick it actually turned out for the best. I don't know if I would be able to sit in a movietheatre for so many hours.

Moving on to today's card. I got this image of Tilda as Lucia from a friend and made this especially for my fiancées niece in mind. I used a lot of bling to be in the Magnolia down under challange that had "bedazzled" as their theme. I used pink shimmerz on the pink flowers and on the edges around the image. The gown is coloured slightly with light grey promarker to add shadow and then with white twinkling h2o. Leaves are punched from bazzil bling and I added some bling to the edge and center of flower.
I also used a sketch from friday sketchers. It was simple and clean which was perfect to make the papers stand out.
And of course as this is a Christmas card I'm entering it on thejust Magnolia challenge blog.
There is also a monochromatic challenge at a spoon full of sugar. Not sure if they will accept this card, but thought I'd give it a try. I think it's monochromatic with different shades of red.

A better view of all the shimmer and bling.

Basic Grey challenge and goodies.

Hi everyone and thanks for stopping by. I've been busy this week sewing some Christmasgifts and planning jewelry. I've also been shopping like crazy lately and this week my first package arrived. It was from Simon says stamp. I can really recommend that store! Great stuff, resonable prices and super service.
I also got my package of the whole new set of promarker colours. They are really beautiful. Lots of great blues, pinks and purples.

Here's a Christmas card I made using one of the new Whiff of joy stamps I got. I thought I had all the Christmascards ready, but noticed I need a coouple more so I got right to it. I've used papers form Basic Grey's "Wassail". Love those papers. I like the dark brown one with swirls. Suits the image perfectly.
I'm entering this card for the Basic Grey challenge.

Here are the goodies I have to play with. I feel a candy coming up :)

Just a couple of flowers :D

11:th anniversary!

It's snowing! At least here on my blog. Have you seen the cool snow I've added? I think it gives a festive feeling to the blog. When the petals fall off from that pink tree in the spring it looks like it's snowing in pink. Horrible news about that tree: someone decided to cut it down! I can't believe it. That tree is one of my fav during spring. It only blooms for a couple of weeks and you need to be fast not to miss it. But now someone has decided to cut it down to make room for some concrete pavement I guess. I'm so mad! Here's a LO I made with a photo showing how it "snows", isn't it beautiful?

Moving on to today's card. Yesterday me and my sweetie celebrated our 11:th anniversary together. We didn't do anything special, just had dinner at home (since I don't dare eating out with my stomach) and went to the movies which we both love to do. I can't believe it's been 11 years!

I made a card for my darling using a bunch of challenges:
Papertake weekly - a great sketch and an opportunity to be a guest designer.
Crafty calendar - winter sparkle. Winter-themed cards and projects, with the added option of sparkle and bling.
The pink elephant - Color me wonderful. Use your fav colouring medium.
Sophisticat - snowflakes and sparkle.
Gingersnap creations - winter wonderland.
Cuttlebug challenge - glitter and bling.
Just magnolia too - make a card for someone special. Doesn't get more special than this :)
Quixotic paperie - use charms.
And finally Simon say stamp also had charms as their theme. The charm I added has a writing on the back that says: made for an angel.

The image is from Magnolia and coloured with promarkers. I coloured them to represent me and my sweetie with haircolour and the colour of our clothes. I added glitter to the girl's coat. I love glitter so that worked great and the boy got blue sweater which is my love's fav colour. I used the wonderful papers from SEI that haveboth glitter and a "reversed" metallic embossing (the metal is etched into the paper rather than raised) I made the snowflake decoration using a tutorial from Bev. Thank you Bev.

Hope you've enjoyed my card. See you soon.

Promarkers: ivory, pastel yellow, blossom, pastel blue, ice grey 1, henna, burnt sienna, burnt umber, blender
Other: Glitterglue stickles stardust, cuttlebug snowflake folder, spellbinder's snowflake die, snowflake punch, fibers.
Papers: SEI, Lovebirds

12 tags of Christmas - day 1

I'm so happy that Tim Holtz' 12 tags of Chrismas has started. Have you seen it yet? I thought it would start on december 13:th so I'm happy it's on now.

Yesterday after my Christmasshopping (where I found all gifts and tons of new beautiful fabrics) I gave it a go on tag for day 1. I had two ideas and actually finished both of them. Here are the results:

I just love the birdset of clearstamps I got a while back. I bought it from a blogger I was following. She advertised on her blog that she wanted to sell the set and I jumped right on it. I was surprised that noone had contacted her. The set is stunning and the price was great too.
I used peeled paint and vintage photo for this one.

This other tag uses a fairy stamp from PSX (remember that fab company?)
The text has crackle medium on it. Colours used: broken china and tattered rose. The swirl is made using a qk die.

Wishful tag

Christmas is just around the corner. It's december 1:st and I'm celebrating with a little Christmas tag. I'm off Christmasshopping soon today, but I wanted to show you the quick tag I made. Took me 30 minutes tops. The image is from plate 22 from sweetpea stamps.

The tag is quite simple really, just stamped the image once, added another bamboo stamp on top. Then I coloured the image with promarkers, added a gold bead on the flower and filled it with crackling lacquer. I stamped the word "wish" in fired brick distress ink and added red glitter glue on top. Finally I inked the edges with peeled paint. And voilá, a finished tag in 30 minutes tops.
Tag measures about 4-1/2 x 2".

I'm entering the special promarker challenge with this tag. It's a challenge that goes on from today (dec 1:st) until january 5:th. You need to make anything but a card with a Christmas theme. There are some great prizes to win so I'm in ;)

Wishing you hugs and kisses

Here is another project I made yesterday. This time a card with a romance/sweet theme for roses on paper using one of my fav Tildas from Magnolia. I also made the card a Christmas one since there are so many challenges out there with a Christmas theme this week. I thought I'd be fresh and see how many I could fit the card into :)

Christmas theme:
papertake weekly
everybody art
charisma cardz
Magnolia down under
2 red bananas
Paper make-up
Flourishes

Red and green colourcombo:
Corrosive challenges by Janet
365 cards
Tellen's place
colourcreate

Other ones:
Paper cutz - anything goes
sketch saturday. - I turned the sketch 90 degrees.

Phew, that was quite some challenges :)

Tip of the day:
I have bought a holder for scrapbookpapers with a couple of compartments where I keep papers and cardstock that are matched together. Sometimes I just feel like colouring so I take out those papers and colour the image so it matches the papers. I then store the image and papers together. Whenever I feel like making cards, but don't have the energy to colour images I take out this holder and look through it to see what I have "half done". It's like having a cardkit ready to go. The only thing is to remember that I have it, lol. I actually almost forgot it. Good thing I didn't since it's Christmas papers and a winter image. On the other hand I just got it so maybe I just need to get used to using it.

Colour: promarkers
Border: spellbinders
Papers: sandylion and daisyd
Text: free download from dafont.com
Stamp: Magnolia

Winter love

I made this adorable ATC especially with this week's theme at the Simon says stamp challenge blog. The theme was "winter love" and this stamp directly came to mind. I've been a little tired of making regular cards so I wanted to try something different. I'm determined to succeed with my distress inks and yesterday I gave it another try. I think even Tim Holtz himself would've been proud or what do you say?
Simon says stamp is also sponsoring a candy if you join this week's challenge. The candy can be found at Chris' blog.

Do I dare to mention that I made this stunning colour combo by mistake?! I was distressing the edge with vintage photo when I accidently turned my sponge somehow and added the red from it. I use make-up sponges for now (just ordered the felt and tool). I use one sponge for 2 colours. I kept thinking: "what would Tim do?" and just kept on going adding colours. In the end I was blown away. You have to excuse my modesty, but I haven't managed with anything distressed yet and this one turned out beautifully - even better than I had imagined.

The vintage look is this week's theme at the promarker challenge blog.
Sophisticat had "ATC" as their challenge.
The pixie cottage wanted you to use stitching.

I used my nestability to cut out a hole in copy paper and made one shape in post-it paper to create a mask. I used the copypaper to cover the ATC and stamped the image in the hole. Then I covered the image with the mask and stamped a music note image over the right side and embossed with clear powder. Afterwards I sewed a zig zag seam to the right and added the different inks around the whole piece. I made a snowflake from 3 different die-cuts that I inked in different colours. I then glued it together and added a flat-backed pearl. I used an alphabet to write "love" on the right hand side. I coloured the image and added the specially made snowflake. Finally I added some glitter on the flake and text.

Distresses: Vintage photo, fired brick and broken China
Promarkers: ivory, saffron, cinnamon, cool aqua, berry red and orange
Stamp: Sarah Kay

A brand new challenge blog for gypsy lovers

Ok, I have to admit. I didn't even know what a gypsy was when I visited the cuttlebug spot today. "There is a new challenge blog for gypsylovers". Uh-uh I thought to myself. Good for them. There is always so many new gadgets out there. Curious as I am I found out what it was and realize it's an extra gadget to use with your cricut. I wanted that machine before my qk squeeze (aren't they in a museum by now?) and my cutiebug. I'm curious to find out more about it and to see what everyone does with it. There are already some great projects on the new challenge blog called the gypsy spot.

To celebrate the launch custom crops has kindly donated one to be given away as candy! Wow! Make sure you enter before december 1:st when the winner will be chosen.

Lilac Christmas

Today I've been playing with the amazing new stamp from sweetpea stamps. I woke up today with a craving - there's no better word for it - to craft! I have a huge DT package with stamps that are hinting to me to be inked so who am I to refuse? Of course I needed to join some challenges, I went through my growing challenge list and here's what I came up with with the card:

fridaysketchers had a wonderful sketch this week that suited perfectly with this stamp. I really wanted the image to be the focalpoint and the sketch allowed that. I used my brand new spellbinder snowflakes instead of the circles.

stampin for the weekend had a lilac/silver colourscheme. I only coloured half of the image to give it a different look. The image speaks for itself and I like that you can see how it looks before and after colouring. As usual I used my promarkers and white twinkling H2O for the flakes and details.

By the cute and girly had "winter wonderland" as their theme.

Creatalicious had "something for Christmas including snowflakes and lots of sparkle/glitter."

Crafty calendar had "weather" as this month's theme. Thought the snowy weather behind the girl suited the theme wonderfully.

If you are inlove with these stamps as much as I am then you can purchase the newest release at a special price. Lynette - the owner of sweetpea stamps is having a sale that already started and is running through Cyber Monday. If you are a first time customer you will get a free Fantasy Art Collection stamp (Lynette's choice) on orders over $20! So what are you waiting for? Click HERE to go straight to the shop and don't forget to mention me during checkout. Enjoy!

Colour: promarkers blossom, pastel blue, ice grey 1 and 3, ivory and silver, white twinkling h2o.
Paper: art blanché from EK success, bazzil bling
Tools: spellbinders shapeabilities create a flake 1

Black friday sales

I have been webshopping like crazy the last few days. I don't know how you shop, but I always need to look through EVERY single page to make sure I don't "need" anything. I did that while shopping at simon says stamp yesterday and checked out with 12 tubes of flowers among other things...a LOT of other things. That's about 60 in each one, lol. Let's just say I qualified for the free shipping on international orders. They have that at $150...Funny thing is that I read that and thought to myself:"$150! Does anyone come up to those amounts?!I guess maybe when several people join in on the order" LOL OR maybe it's people who just got out of the hospital and are happy to be alive and crafting. I ordered some Whiff of joys since it's better for me to buy them from the US than directly from the Whiff of joy shop due to the exchange rates. Feels weird.

Today I shopped at a new place called a cherry on top. I found them while looking for a paperset I found at someone's blog. I loved the papers she used in her project and googled it since I've never heard of the company. It's from we R memory keepers and the set is called Tiffany's. Just the right style and colours for me. So spot on! So they had a lot of specials, I even got a discount on shipping. One of the specials was to buy a 4x8" qk alphabet for only $10. I had it in my basket but after looking through their page a couple of hours it disappeared (out of stock) Oh well, I got tons of goodies. I'm really looking forward to that box (yes it was another box...do I hear a candy coming up? I think so...)

Other companies that have sales are Queen kat designs, sweetpea stamps and Whiff of joy. If you "need" something you should take part of the deals :)

Sweetpea stamps are having a sale on some of the beautiful fairystamps. Check them out and make sure you mention me during checkout :)

Queen kat designs - 20% off Queen Kat Design Stamps 20% off the Supplies Category. Good through november 30:th.

Whiff of joy - 20% off winterstamps. Until december, but who dares to wait?

A cherry on top - everything 10%-70% off. Good thru midnite, Sunday, Nov 29. [all times EST] Check out their Thanksgiving sale for more info and offers. Must use code: "THANKS".

Simon says stamp - everything 15% off with coupon "bf15". Ends friday at midnight.

Scrapyland - the best place to buy all your dies. The only place I've been buying dies (and now Michelle's, see below). Superdeals right now.

Michelles scrap - a tiny little store, but even better prices. If you're looking for great deals on nesties, Magnolias or Basic Greys that's the place to look. She also has a cute stampline of her own. Make sure to mention I sent you. Until the end of the month she has a 10% off everything in her store using code "10percent".

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving. I can't wait to get all the goodies I ordered. It's going to be a crafty Christmas...

New challenge blog and candy

There will be a new norwegian/english challenge blog every sunday called sketchy colors. It's open for everyone and it's in both english and norwegian, so no excuses ;) The only scare would be the talented DT. I know some norwegian cardmakers and they are crazy talented!
The name of the blog is because it will mainly consist of sketch and colour challenges.

I think that's great because it's a bit scarse with challenges on sundays. The first challenge starts at 29th of November, at 9 am – their time, which is 4am at the earliest in the US. For those of you that live there, let's just say a new challenge will be up by the time you get up. Kind of like Christamsmorning, lol.

To welcome everyone the "leaders" are offering a candy. Go to the blog to read all about it. The winners will be announced saturday the 28th of November at 9pm – our time!

New sweetpea stamps and referral program

I've been playing with the new stamps from plate 23 (above) from sweetpea stamps. I just couldn't stay away from ink and rubber yesterday, lol.
So much has happened with sweetpea while I was gone. The shop got a new look, the DT team got a new logo to put in the sidebar (I just haven't figured out how to put it up yet), tons of new stamps have come out and so much more. There is also a referral program where the DT members can earn rubber$ if they send people over to shop. So when you shop make sure to mention me when you check out. You need to write my full name (Katarina Maserak) and e-mailaddress (under my profile) All details here. Thank you.

There is a sale going on at the moment, so don't miss out! If you haven't seen the new fairystamps from the talented ching-chou kuik go and check it out. I love these stamps - there are a delight to colour. Here's one of the new stamps I got in my DT package. Isn't she a beauty?

There is also a challenge going on on the blog. When you've gotten your stamps make sure to join! You need to e-mail your entry before dec. 12:th to be in a chance of winning a $5 giftcard. You can enter as many times as you like. All details in the sidebar of the sweetpea blog.

Ok, on to my bookmark project. I've been playing with my distress inks. I really like the look Tim Holtz makes on his Christmas tags. Even if I follow him step by step I can't figure out how he does it! At least I had fun yesterday even if it didn't turn out like his.

I used broken china (blue) around the edges, sprayed with water and dried with my heating gun. Then I inked a swirlstap with green peeled paint and stamped a couple of times on the side. I sprayed with water again and let it bleed a little before I heat-set it. I inked up the girlstamp with black ink and stamped on the bottom of the bookmark. I coloured it slightly on the edges with my promarkers. Finally I inked the sentiment with versamark and stamped three times on the top. I stamped it so the whole text could be read. I then brushed some red pearl-ex over it to add that shine.

Back home

I'm back home from the hospital now. Nothing unusual was found, the doctors can't explain why I'm in pain, I got painkillers, end of story.

Moving on...

I got TONS of new "toys" while I was gone. Here's my fun list to play with:

*7-8 house mouse
*8 or so sugar nellies
*1 magnolia parrot
*one big box of craft goodies, some chipboard albums, stickles, stamps, nesties etc.
*three bags of sale items from my local shop (what do you mean? I HAD to help them empty the store before the move)
*two sheet of sweetpea stamps

Ironically enoough I don't feel like making cards, lol. I'm into sewing and jewelrymaking right now. Yesterday I finished a project for a friend - can't show it yet since she might be lurking around here. During the weekend I finished 2,5 sets of earrings. I got an order for a pair of those angelearrings that I auctioned out. My first jewelrysale! Woohooo!

I'm not even close to be fit for fight, but whenever I can I try to craft a bit. I'm trying to take it easy, but I miss not showing you my projects. I'll be back - it might be a bit more seldom in the beginning, but I'll be back :)

P,S. I got a great Amy Butler bag pattern. I know just which fabrics to use. Just need to figure out the pattern. Haven't yet, lol. Maybe I should try to do it my way and see if it makes sense...hmmm....I'll let you know how "my way" turns out.
