Blog candy

Bev is giving away some awesome blogcandy. I would love to win it since I don't have any of those stamps. Well, I'd like to win everything, but some prizes are more important than others ;)

Craft stamper blog

A few year's back I used to subscribe to Craft stamper - an english magazine. It was full of stampingtechniques and as a new stamper I loved it to bits. Unfortunately, for a couple of reasons I didn't renew my subscription. Recently I have read blogs where people praise this magazine and all the fabulous ideas it gives them. So I'm thinking about wishing a subscription for Christmas. The subscription I had before I had gotten for my b-day and it was wonderful because I got a "gift" every month for a whole year. The thing is that I've just recently started subscribing to Stampers' sampler and I must say I'm very disappointed. The old issues of this magazine were packed with ideas, but the last 3 issues I've read are not satisfactory. I love all the cards and the beautiful pictures of them, but what I miss is different techniques, ideas etc. Right now it looks more like a "take ten" mag than anything else. For that price I would've rather bough some catch up issues to be honest. But maybe the Craft stamper really is that good? And I don't have anything on my wishlist yet...

I have been to their new blog and noticed that they have a blogcandy to celebrate the new blog. Click here if you want to see the new blog and what they are giving away.

Celebration card challenge

This sunday (tomorrow) it's father's day and my fiancée asked me to make a card for him to send to his dad. I had a hard time with it and postponed it for a few days during the week, but finally I got some ideas and got it done on time.

I am entering this card into a blogcandycontest that you can read about here The challange was to make a celebrationcard and I wanted to enter with something different than just a b-day card.

Image is from Penny Black and it's colored in with alcoholmarkers. The paper is a piece of scrap I had left and the paisleypattern worked wonderfully with my new CB paisley embossingdie. The big flowers are all pale pink, like the embossed paper, even though it doesn't show. I'm glad I've started to make these cards with patterned paper and flowers. It has been hard for me to do, but now I see the thrill with this "technique".

High hopes reindeer and challenge

The challenge was to use a high hopes image and to make a card without traditional colors. I had a piece of black/white Christmas textpaper and thought I'd work with black/white/silver and some fushia to make it more interesting.

Unfortunately the scanned image isn't so good. I will try to photograph the card to show it better. The flower is not red, it's the same color as the raindeer's belt-thingy and the part that the flower is attached on is silver mirror-paper. The scrolly part to the left is from a qk frame die. I cut it out in black bling cardstock. The beltdots are blingstones.

I'm very happy with this card, but the photo doesn't make it justice. I just wanted to put it up so I don't miss the deadline for the challenge. As soon as I can I'll try to take a photo of it instead.

Sketch challenge

I've been having so much fun participating in challenges. I get more motivated when I have a deadline and when there are prizes for grabs :D
Here's a card that's been half-made forever. I got the image of the lady from a friend years ago (do you remember P.?). I thought she was so beautiful I didn't dare making a card, lol. The "B" stamp I picked up earlier this year together with my cuttlebug. I've been having it together with the lady, but didn't have more ideas than that. A while ago I bought a pack of papers and when working with this sketch I figured the colors of the paper would suit perfectly for this card. Naturally I had to use one of my CB embossingfolders again. I told you every card now will have some embossed paper. When I love something I love it to death (or boredom ;)

I won staaaaaaamps! :D

Remember those cards for the soldiers I sent earlier? I was actually one of 10 people to win a prize. I have won one stampsheet of my choice at Gina K designs. I can't choose! I have two sheets that I'm fond of: one is the silhouettes Halloween one (Spooky silhouettes) and the other one is the festive labels. The reason I can't decide is that although I love the Halloweenstamps we don't actually send cards to eachother on Halloween here in Sweden. I just like making them with all the fab stuff there are. So maybe I should go with something more usable?

One of my friends sent me a card where she used a round stamp and I thought it looked great, so maybe I should go with the little round frames of the festive sheet. I don't know. What would you choose?

Here you can read Gina's post about the soldier's cards. She got 2790 cards and 5 of them were mine :) I really feel like I have made a difference. What a great feeling...

Whiff of joy challenge

There was a sketch you had to use. I'm not sure if I'm blown away by my card (the scanner isn't playing nice either) but it was fun to participate. A bit out of the box again :)

P.S. I'm such a kluts. I saw the challenge and I thought it was the old one from last week. Since I wanted to participate (and it was tuesday night) I stayed up making the card until 4 in the morning, thinking I would just make it with the timedifference and all. Just when I'm about to post it and leave a comment on the challenge blog I notice that noone else has entered. How could this be? Well...it could have something to do with the fact that the sketch was for this week's challenge and I was super-duper first, lol. Oh well, at least I have it done. First time I'm this early with something, haha.

Spoooktacular card

I started this card over a week ago because I wanted to join a Penny Black challenge. Unfortunately, because I was so slow with finishing it, I missed the deadline :( I was quite bummed because the site was looking for new DT members and I really wanted to be on the team. It's a bit of a catch 22 though because the card wouldn't have turned out this good if I had finished it earlier. I just got a flash of brilliance (and modesty, lol) yesterday, letting me finish the card this way. I really like how I managed to layer it on the lower part.

I decided that this card was just too good to go to waste, so I entered it in another challenge instead. The winner will get a 2 week DT spot, so keep your fingers crossed!

I also got my shipment of cuttlebug goodies yesterday :D YEY! I got a whole bunch of embossingfolders, since I am totally addicted to them. You think all my Christmascards will have embossed papers now? ;) In that package was some Disney die/embossing folders. One of them was a Halloween-themed one and that is how I got the black cat on the card. I really like these combodies too!

Don't know if it shows that well, but the cat is both cut out and embossed.

New item on etsy

Just wanted to let you know that I finally put up one of my earrings on etsy. The earrings have been finished and photographed for a few weeks and now I finally found the energy to put them up ;)

I'm very happy with how they turned out. They look quite unusual and very elegant. Hope you like them!

House mouse natural

House mouse had a challenge that was so not my style so I thought I would give it a try. The challenge was "natural", either use natural colors or a natural embellishment. I used everything at once :D

The ball the mouse is sleeping on is flocked with white flock and he's colored with aquarellpencils. I made the paper around him a bit more dirty by using a distress ink. In the right corner I glued a real flower that I picked and pressed this summer. Think it gives a nice feeling to the card. The paper with the heart is mullberry with hemppieces and the card itself is made of recycled magazines. The quote is printed out on the computer.

Don't know why the scanner wants to make the card so bright, sigh. The card is more beautiful in real life, lol ;)

A spoonfullofsugar challenge

This week it was to make something with sparkle and bling. I'm a bit confused when the deadline is, but I think it's at the end of the week or maybe monday since they post a new challenge every tuesday.

Here's my card with another one of my pixies. She is colored with alcoholmarkers and aquarellpencils. Her wings have a white twinkling H2O to give them some shimmer. The text is embossed with a sparkly powder, although I don't think it shows that well. The 3 dots are actually blingstones and the smaller yellow square is bling paper (LOVE it). The patterned pink paper is one of the ones that came in the pad I bought earlier this week. I like that it looks like fireworks or something like that. Very fitting for a fairy/pixie card. What do you think?

So much candy and I'm drinking tea :(

I entered so many blogcandies and a couple of challenges, but no luck :( Here's what I made for one of the sketchchallenges. It was really hard because the sketch had so many stuff in it and I'm having a hard time overdoing my cards. You can see the sketchchallenge on scraplyckan's blog together with all the other contributions. It was a lottery which I think is better because then I don't have to feel like I failed with my card. I remember one place where they always chose the same style of card, even if it wasn't that good. I got annoyed that the same card won all the time and I stopped entering. Anyhee, here are my cards for the contest. I love the little girl I got recently. I bought a whole sheet of pixies and fairies which I'm inlove with and she was one of them.
