My new nesties!

Just wanted to show you what was in my mailbox on tuesday: my first ever nestabilities. I never knew they could be so much fun! Now I understand why everyone is so crazy about them. Originally I wanted some of the labels, but since I'm so slow with ordering and deciding they were sold out :( So I got the basic shapes that were my second choice: the big scalloped and small ovals. It took me a while to understand the difference, but I'm glad I researched a bit because I originally wanted to get both small. The difference is that when you have both the same size the space between them is smaller and I think it looks better when more paper is showing. I hope you understand what I mean, it's past 2am and I've been bloghopping like crazy today, lol. If you need more info I have the links to some great sites explaining the difference around here somewhere...Just let me know if you need the info.

I also got the qk hinges. I have seriously been looking for them since I got my squeeze and that was over 2 years ago (or was it over 1 year...) Doesn't matter how long, but I've been wanting them and they have been discontinued. Now I finally found them and on sale even! Woohooo! Now let's see what I can do with them...

I really like using the nesties to cut out parts of a picture (like the bunny on the post below). I just need to figure out how to make that dry embossing border around. Do you need a special mat or does a mousepad work fine? Anyone knows?

Phew, I'm off to bed. I went up pretty early today (for me) and now I'm pooped. Ta ta for now :)

Penny Black challenge #46

This week on the penny black challenge blog the theme was "anything goes". Since I feel like I have lost my style in cardmaking I'm being a bit cautious when I join challenges now. I want to avoid getting caught up and "boxed in", so I'm trying to avoid the ones that are too "controlled" if you know what I mean. This challenge was great since the only "must" was a PB image and I love working with those anyway.

It was so great making a card after my own devices again. I almost had forgotten how much fun it was. Since starting my blog in autumn I have joined in on so many challenges. I have developed tremendously, but hadn't really tried my wings on my own.

I'm happy with the card I made. I think it shows my "developed" style, lol. I love the papers and the whole feeling of the card. It is supposed to be a "mother's day" card. I thought about adding a text in the upper corner, but thought it took the attention away from the bunny.

The grey paper on the bottom of the card is grey bling embossed with the script CB folder.

Cuttlebug challenge blog hop

I hope you're not missing all the fun at the cuttlebug challenge blog. The whole weekend there will be tutorials and other stuff. Today I found this tutorial on how to make an organza flower. I'm not sure I will do it again since I'm not thrilled with the result, but it was fun trying something new.

I only had a piece of blue organza scrap. It didn't want to go through my CB dies, so I cut out a couple of round shapes. When I was done with the edging I put on some glitter. Here's the result:

Whiff of joy candy

Katharina - the owner of Whiff of joy is giving away two summer stamp kits in her blogcandy!

The kit consists of 6 main character stamps, 5 accessory stamps and 4 sentiments (in english). It's drawn by the very talented Elisabeth Bell. The stamps can be bought seperately later on, but to a higher price, so if you love these kinds of stamps the kit is definately worth it. It can be preordered for a limited time (until may 4:th for the summer kit) and they come out 4 times a year. Now it's time for the summerkit and as I mentioned - you can win the whole kit! Just go to Katharinas blog and read how you can enter. Open until may 1:st.

Looking for fabrics!

I have a friend that is crazy about the sailorfashion - you know the white/blue red/white stripey fabrics, anchors etc. I want to sew her a make-up bag or a small purse. I've been looking like crazy for fabrics like that in the small shops here, but not found anything. We have one big fabricstore outside of town and if I won't find anything there I never will.

So I started looking on the net and I found one great shop in the UK with two fab fabrics that would be perfect, but they are not replying to my e-mails! They have one of those forms and I have sent 3 messages with no reply. I wanted to know how much the shipping would be, but since they are not answering I don't dare ordering at all. Anyone knows what's up with the shop or where I can buy similar fabrics? The shop is called JB quilting fabrics.

Fabric 2

I'd apreciate any help, thanks.

Woj and sukkersött challenge

It was so much fun to make a card again. It was hard in the beginning, but after a while I got in "the flow". I had forgotten how much fun it was! I had a friend that visited over easter and then I got the stomachflu so I haven't been crafting for weeks. The horror! lol.

I still have some Whiff of joy images that my friend sent me. They are mostly Christmas/winter images but they are stamped on aquarelle paper so they work really well with my tombows. I've been playing around with my tombows lately since they leave such a different look from promarkers which I usually use. And there is nothing wrong with having some extra Christmas card at the end of the year, am I right?

I made a card using Charlie for the Whiff of joy challenge. The challenge was a great sketch that I think I interpreted pretty well. I used small plastic pebbles I won in a candy a while back as snowballs. The pretty paper speaks for itself. I'm quite proud of the way I made the imagesquare. Instead of layering it on a bigger piece I dryembossed a square around Charlie and coloured with drychalks to make the image stand out more.
I also noticed that the colours I had used workes great for the sukkersott challenge blog. The challenge was to use the colours green, blue and brown.

So what do you think of my first card after being sick?

Easter swap project

I'm still recovering from the stomachflu I got after easter. I'm getting tired fast and still feel a bit weak from time to time, but I'm getting stronger every day. I haven't had the energy to do any project (because I have to clean up my space first, lol) but I've been colouring a bit out on the balcony in the wonderful sunshine we've been having.

Since I don't want you to totally grow tired of me (I know how boring it is to check blogs that are never updated) I thought I'd show you what I made for my secret easter swap person.

I sew two birds and a birdhouse from the latest Tilda Finnanger book. I wanted to make the birds "lovebirds" and the house to be their lovehouse. I used fabrics and colours that would match. I made one bird red with turquoise details and the other one turquoise with red details. And finally the house an even mix of both.

I used beads so you can hang the birds and house and I also attached metalwire to the base of the birds so they can be assembled on a birdhouse for instance. The wire can be easily pulled out. I also managed to find some metal charms:
key+lock=LOVE
bird+bird=lovehouse

I thought the gift was quite thought through even if it wasn't the most advanced one. But concidering this was my first stuffed animal project I think I did quite well. Now I'm off colouring some more and hopefully joining some challenges. Hope you'll come back ;)
