When I'm old I'll wear purple

Today's image is one of the older ones from sweetpea, drawn by ching-chou kuik called come softly from plate 25. I'm very excited about all the new releases, but sometimes the older stamps are forgotten and they are just as beautiful, don't you agree?

This time I used a colourscheme from two challenges. I wanted to use a plain white background, but with embossing or some kind of pattern. The images from sweetpea are PERFECT for these kinds of cards. I love how they pop from the card and aren't overshadowed by papers, colours or embelishments. Just showing them off perfectly. I'll definately do more of these cards (if I can remeber that, lol)

I started out by colouring the moth and the girl's skin. When it came to choosing colour for her hair I wanted to be wild and use something fantasy-like. Then I wanted the swirls to match nicely and before I knew it it turned out to be a purple/red image. I'm not that familiar with the meaning behind my title, but I know I've seen funny images of old ladies wearing red and purple.

Lately I've been feeling like practicing my colouring skills. I really want my images to have that vibrant glow to them, but I feel like I have a long way to go. Usually I colour my images by choosing the exact right promarkers that match the patterned papers I'm using. I don't like colouring ahead because I never use those images because they never match any paper I have.
On the other hand I'm blaming my promarkers a bit because I visited a blog recently where the lady is amazing with her copics. She used promarkers for one of her cards and it was ok - kind of like mine, but not as fantastic as her usual stuff. So I'm definately thinking about upgrading them to copics. I just need to figure out the whole sketch, ciao and whatnot.

Here are the challenges I've used:

In a sweetpea dream - things with wings
One stop craft - embossing
Simon says stamp - all white
Stamptacular sunday - Inspired by Danielle's card (white/purple and wings)

Hello Katarina, how touching it is to contemplate an oeuvre d'art that my project inspires... I am older than you are, and purple represents the color of inspiration for me. It's a deep and calm pigment that represent's wisdom. Your image is more than lovely, the look upon her face is soft and kind. And your coloring not only brings her to life, but puts on a her face emotions and feelings that reach ones soul. The white embossed cardstock suggests such pureness and grace, which brings the word pure love to my mind...
SPLENDIDE, MERVEILLEUX, are the french words that come spontaneously to me... I love all of it. Congrats, I shall never forget.
Thank's for playing along with us this week in our Stamptacular DT inspiration. Hope to see you again soon.
Hugs,
Danielle

Hi there,

Your card is beautiful. I love your coloring, it really does pop, it looks amazing. You are right the lightly embossed background really does go with it. I haven't really gotten into coloring with copic markers yet but I have some and have used them in classes and make and takes. I prefer the Ciao because the marker is round and the width (diameter) is smaller which feels better to hold in your fingers and color with. However, it holds the least amount of ink, which I don't care about obviously because I don't use them everyday. The sketch is oval shaped and a little bit bigger in width and it holds a little more ink. And the largest size is square shaped and holds the most ink. All of them are refillable. I think it just depends on how it feels when you hold the pen and how much ink you are going to use. I would try one of each kind before investing in them as they are pretty expensive. Hopefully others will give you advice also. Anyway, I actually just wanted to compliment you on your card. Good luck to you! Have a wonderful week.

Hi Katarina - I love the colouring on this Sweet Pea image.

I'm at the stage of giving up on mine because I just cannot get the colouring right.

I use Copics, and bought all the Ciao, and am now adding in colours from Sketch.

Thanks so much for joinging OSCC this week.
