New Whiff of joy release

Have you heard about the new release from Whiff of joy? It's called "Women's delight" and has beautiful wedding, pregnancy and motherhood stamps. They are all designed by the very talented Elisabeth Bell, so if you like her style, you're going to love these!

The new collection will be released on june 14:th in the Whiff of joy shop.

Notepad holder

While bloghopping today I found a blog called Magnolia-licious highlites. They had a great challenge - making a post-it holder. I have a bunch of those cheap yellow ones and let's be honest: they are really ugly, but I've never thought about sprucing them up before. Deadlines work really well for me so I started straight away.

I had this beautiful image of Tilda already coloured in. My friend sent me some images stamped on watermark (aquarell) paper. I used my tombows and a waterbrush. I was very satisfied with the result and wanted to use the image on something special. So when I came across this challenge I knew I wanted to use her!

I've added glitterglue on the flowers she's holding - not sure if it shows. I like the way the flowers hang freely since I didn't glue them on properly. The scalloped ring she's sitting on is from my new nesties. I also embossed the ring with a cuttlebug folder.

If you want to give it a go, here's the tutorial:
Bridgett.

I've been seewing a lot today and I managed to put up some new items in my etsyshop. Do you like them?
Here are the two fabrics I've been playing around with today. I'm just in love with them!
I should be done with the project soon so come back and check it out.

New items on etsy

I'm trying to kick myself in the behind and upload some of the things I have made lately. It would be so much fun to sell something I have made. I have sold one thing through etsy and I remember how happy I was that a stranger not only liked something I made but actually wanted to pay for it, lol.

If you have any tips or feedback for me I would love to hear it. I promise I won't get offended (as long as it's constructive ;)

It's hard to decide how much the items should cost, but I'm taking material costs+ some for the work and idea. I'm also making sure it's not overpriced. I try to think what an item like that costs in the shop (although it's not handmade) and would I pay those prices myself? I'm not trying to get wealthy here, I would just love if someone liked my stuff.

I'm trying to take as good pics as possible so it looks somewhat professional. I'm planning to put up sewn dolls, jewelry, altered albums, cards and other sewn things. If you have any suggestions let me know.

Here are some other things I'll be uploading as soon as they're finished. I need to go to the sewingstore and get some supplies. Let me know what you think :)

I need a snap for this bag and a way to finish off the ribbon/cord. Right now I'm using it for my unfinished sewing projects. It measures about 10x15"

Woolen bunny heart. This one is totally finished.

Need a closing for this one too - a make-up bag. Isn't it adorable?

Two challenges in one card

The other new challenge blog I have found is called stampin for the weekend. They had a colour combo called "from dusk to dawn" (purple and yellow) as their first challenge. I got a bit confused because they wrote: "Not a normal color scheme you see."
I thought purple and yellow was a typical easter combo? Like green and red for Christmas.

Confused or not I decided to go with one of my new easter Magnolias and the paper I bought for my cousin's graduation card that I didn't use in the end. It has both purple and yellow in it so I thought it would turn out great.

I also decided to jump on another challenge called just Magnolia. They had a great sketch this week. I haven't joined them before since I haven't had any Magnolias until recently. Now that I have a couple and like to play with them I wanted to join. Who knows what stamp/stampline I'll favourise next week, lol.

Promarkers used:

ivory (face)
ice grey1 (hair)
amethyst and aubergine (dress)
blue pearl (socks and lace)
apple green and blender (neckline on dress)

Yellow cardstock embossed with my cuttlebug. Text printed on the computer.
Great tip: I use different fonts that I've downloaded for free from dafont. This way I can write anything I want in any size with many different fonts.

The Tilda dress is not paperpieced - it's just coloured :) Thanks for all the wonderful comments about my colouring skills. They make me very happy!

Trimmies craft challenge

I have found two new challenge blogs. One of them is called Trimmies craft challenge and this is the third week.

The challenge was 2 challenges in one card:

Fathers Day or male card and colour combo blue/brown.

I thought it would be really hard since blue and especially brown is not really my cup of tea (or coffee, lol). But the card made itself. I used my newly bought Magnolia (one of the four). I coloured in the image with my promarkers yesterday and finished the rest today. I just cut and folded and this is how it turned out:

The colours used:

ivory (face)
blue pearl, cornflower and china blue (blues)
raw sienna, cinnamon, cocoa (browns)

The hearts are cut out from a patterned paper. Snip, snip, ink, ink and voilá. I have a card for my sweetie :)

Over 30 followers!

Hi everyone.

I'm back from my cousin's graduation. It was very nice to be there and he apreciated it a lot. It differs 10 years between us and it was so much fun to see him start out his life.

I will put up the card I made in the following days. Right now I am so busy with playing a game that I've been waiting for since february. They finally released it friday. Woohooo. For those of you who are interested: it's called Aveyond 3 (the first two games are wonderful) and you can get them from amaranth games.

I also noticed I now have over 30 followers!!! I had 30 a couple of weeks ago and then it went down to 29 again. But now I have 32! Thank you soooo much for following my blog. It keeps me motivated to craft and to make new posts.

Last week I got 4 new Magnolia stamps on sale so I feel eager to play with them now that I've made my cousin's card.

I'm planning to celebrate being published with a big candy, but have to look through my stash and get myself together, lol. So for now enjoy the rest of the blog (if you're new), check out the candybar to the right and make sure to come back.

I've been published!!!!!

I just can't believe it! WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!

Today I found the latest issue of stampers' sampler on the floor (we get oour mail through the door). I was a bit puzzled because my subscription ended in march and I didn't renew it. So I started looking at the frontpage, reading what this issue was all about. One of the titles read: "Polka dots galore challenge results". I remember to have sent in a card with polkadots (so close to the closingdate I was scared I had missed it). I thought they would contact me if they were going to publish my card and since they didn't I realized my style wasn't a fit for their mag. But I got curious about why the magazine was sent to me. If they had made a miss in the subscription and sent me an extra mag then I should've gotten the previous issue. So I looked on which pages the polkacards were - without any suspitions or hopes really. Seeing my card there was really the last thing on my mind.

And then - like in a dream...I SAW MY CARD!!!! In the upper left corner on page 62 - there it was. I'm soooo proud and happy. I started jumping around and screaming (good thing noone was home, lol) Getting published and getting on a DT was one of my new year resolutions. I never ever would have guessed I would get published before getting on a DT team, lol. I was giving up on applying to DT, but now I have over 1/2 year left to get on one. I'm so fired up I feel like I can do anything!

I started listening to a lecture given by Randy Pausch and what relly stuck with me is what he says about walls - when you hit one. They are there to test how badly you want something. And I have banged my head against the DT applying wall so many times now, lol. I guess this is the kick I needed to continue.

OK, so here's how the card looks in the mag. I need to frame it or something. Think I'll scan in the page, print it out, frame it and put it in my corner.

I really need to celebrate today! This has been very oimportant to me, so cake for everyone!!! Or maybe a blogcandy...yes, a blogcandy it shall be so check back. I'm getting ready for my cousin's graduation so it might be a week or two before I post anything.

Speaking of blogcandy I got some amazing papers today that I won from Katrina Thank you so much Katrina! She also included some flowers and plastic glaze thingies. They work great as snowballs. You can see how I used them on my Whiff of joy Charlie card. I like that every paper is different so there is a lot to choose from.

And finally: I have to make a card for my cousin's graduation. I had two options to work with and none of them seemed inspirational (I had bought the papers a couple of days ago) But then I went through my old stash and found a wonderful paper that inspired me and worked with everything I had. The graduation colours are blue and yellow (like the swedish flag) and white of course. I didn't know if I should make it traditional or a bit distressed. I wanted some flowers, but since my cousin is a boy I didn't want the card to be too cute. He also had blue colours on his invitation cards. I wanted to incorporate the front of the invitation, but it had such a weird blue/purple shade I couldn't find any matching cardstock.

Choice one and two:

My final choice: Festive, with flowers, bright but still suitable for a boy, or what do you think? I also found the text paper that matched with inspirational words! How great was that. And I bought a very cute charm that says "love much" on one side and "laugh often" on the other. I think I'm going to work from a sketch so I have some kind of structure. I'm getting nervous because I have to finish the card tonight, yikes. With all the stuff I have I'm scared the card will get too busy. Oh well, I'll have to go and start instead of talking about it ;) The card just has to be brilliant, but with the buzz I'm having after the publishing news I think I'll make it. Let you know how it works out later. I might even put up some pics from my own graduation, lol.

Thanks for reading through my ramblings, lol.
Oooh, I think I'll bake something to celebrate :)

First challenge on the promarker blog

I got so excited about the promarker blog two weeks ago that I made a card straight away. I didn't realize they started the first challenge last week, lol. But I couldn't use my card since I had already posted it for another challenge and this one couldn't be combined with others. And as usual I barely made it since the duedate is tomorrow, lol. I was so good on time for once and I couldn't even show myself off, lol.

Here's my card after some difficulties. It was one of the cards laying around half done. I wanted to "get rid" of them since the papers I had put out are occupying my space too much (and bleaching in the sun).

The stamp is a hÄnglar from the latest clubkit. Promarkers I used:

saffron (for the face)
maroon
turquoise
forest green (leaves)
pastel green (shade on wings)

Text is printed from the computer. I have a bunch of quotes in different sizes and styles laying in a big jar. It's a great way of adding text fast - a really great tip. You just see which text fits on your card and you're done. No more of the same "happy birthday" and you don't need as many quotestamps :)

New challenge blog

Have you heard about this new challenge blog? It's called the next level and will launch on june 1:st. But it's more than just a challenge blog. Here's what they have to say about themselves:

The Next Level is the exciting new concept of Dawn (All Pink Girl) and Ann (Madgesty - Love to Create) probably better known as blog name Madge. Our aim in designing this new informative style of blog is not only to produce really creative Weekly Challenges that are not tied to any specific brand, but also to explore new avenues, ideas and techniques with a completely fresh approach.

The Next Level will not only be a fun and informative place to hang out for card crafters and scrapbookers of all levels, but it is hoped that it will also become a valuable source of information, hints and tips, tutorials, downloads and much more. We want to cover the craft of traditional card making but also add in a touch of digital, not too much to scare anyone away, but enough to explore the magical world out there at your fingertips for anyone wanting to venture.

To celebrate the new blog they are offering a great candy, or what do you think?
